Getting on the Road Here I come Westport CT and Scarsdale NY

Here it is all the yarn and spinning wheel ready to go to the airport tomorrow at 4:00amIt has been scorching here, yesterday it was 109 and 97 in the house. While I tried to think about yarn.... Lily isn't happy about the weather or the fact that Mom is distracted and not coming to bed on time

Here is Jan and Gerri at Oregon Flock and Fiber. While I made beaded yarn in blazing heat they sold wool in the cool rains of Oregon
This is what happens to Theo Chocolate in 97 degrees...so sad
Always remember it is never so bad that it couldn't be worse, Becky went to feed the chickens this morning and look what she found in her chicken yard.... now to get this little fellow out and to work on time!
Yikes I feel really bad, it's hot and I'm tired and feeling like there wasn't enough time to do everything I wanted to do which there wasn't. Unfortunately there wasn't any time to dye, unless I can get that done this afternoon.... See you soon?

Loops Wall!

Loops Wall! Bi-annually Loops has a grand reveal of the "Loops Wall" where special projects are beautifully photographed and the yarn and patterns reside under for easy shopping. It has been a burning desire to get a Tanglewood Yarn project up on that wall. If you go into Loops you'll see little skeins of this
and this

And some Lavender Moon beaded to make these...... ummmm my next project! How about you? Call the happy staff at Loops and they can make it happen
I was making yarn last night. I'm in panic mode and trying not to let my family see it but I think they know. I finished packing all the clothes last night and got the technology bag together.... most of the yarn is skeined ready to go but not all of it! I haven't even touched a dye pot. As it's suppose to be over 95 today I don't see it happening anyway. Luckily I do have to wash yarn so it will dry readily. OK off to ply ply ply......Thanks Shelly, Gina, Gina, Gene, and everyone at Loops!!!!

The next day....

Another list another day I thought you might be interested in seeing what got done yesterday
Some of us slept while not getting entangled in yarn....
All the skeins are drying even the ones I did yesterday cross those off the list
The wheel waiting for more plying fun today
Steven having gone to the post office and faced with a huge labeling job today went to the office supply store and purchased a working stapler and hole punch.

Today's list reads

2. Skein and label 35 skeins (this is a carry over from yesterday)
3. Finish clearing desk off (not being able to find something yesterday began a cleaning spree in my room which wasn't on yesterday's list so now to finish that job)

And More Yarn.....

"Making yarn doesn't leave a lot of time for much else", complains Mike.
Although last Tuesday he took the day off and we spent the entire day in the garden hacking back the roses, jasmine and took out a fairly leggy Lavender plant. On Wed. last week I went back (Mike asked me very sweetly to go) to knitting to have a go at finishing the gloves. His birthday gloves, last birthday... poor Mike with cold hands but warm heart braving the frigid cold of the Los Angeles/Long Beach water front in summer..... well they are almost finished!!!! I'll work on them again at knitting Wed. to finish them there!
Meanwhile in the frantic world of yarn we've been busy. This stack o boxes are what we are mailing out. Some are samples for two new shops to view our line, so cross your fingers it might be a shop near you!
One morning I was awakened by this creature.....gently patting my face,
Lily is always so excited when I arise and not just because I fill the food bowl up. Cleo and her take turns on the bed as Cleo likes to really have me all to herself.

Look another break and I am remade in the likeness of a Fancy Lady! not a blob making yarn......
Here is the only picture of yarn I have this week, hopefully this will be finding a new home soon. Sterling Silver in 50%Angora 25%Silk and 25%Cashmere ummmm

That about covers it, not very exciting this week except for you who are waiting for a box. I did receive a wonderful picture book with all our summer pictures thanks to Emily. I cried and laughed at the same time. What a lovely and meaningful gift. I'm putting into the trunk show to show people what it is really like being an intern. Although Emily made it look really fun! Well it was a wonderful experience for me too....I'm bringing it on the road with me so just ask if you want to see it.

Yesterday I had to go shopping. I am decidedly shabby again and without fancy lady shoes, so my wonderful SIL's took me to a really nice resale shop and helped me select clothing for the trunk shows to come. I got real fancy lady shoes, wait til you see them! Patten Leather black straps with a cork high heal. The leather calf high boots were too pointy and high, although I know my friend Cynthia (Knitting Central) must have a pair just like them! Very stylish. I passed on the REAL Prada purse but I did get purses, a little vintage basket purse and a beaded black and tawny tiger striped number. Wow Fancy Lady. Now I need to purchase a tight black skirt, good thing Mom is not here to see this, she totally hated me in black. Linda (String in Manhattan, NY) says it's the NY uniform, and so I will be camouflaged when I arrive in New York for the trunk show in Westport.... also it will go with my "Erica's Sunstone" shoulder candy.
Now it's off to have my first cuppa for the morning. I made a list as I'm starting to panic about time and the slipping away of such. Steven is going to help today (Thank you god for giving me this child, Becky too as she has spent the week plying yarn and has a few boxes to ship today as well) and so I'm not panicking as much as I might. Also one of the new time management skills I built this summer was making lists and today I have one;
1.Ply one 10 ozs. skein of beaded Lavender Moon,
2.skein and label 35 skeins of the "special project" yarn for Loops.
3.Go to Post office
4. Pick up prescriptions
5. Spin Textured yarn
6. spin the cashmere I have quickly?
7 Finish washing the skeins from last week
8. pay bills
9. Empty and Load Dishwasher
10. remove Lavender plant from front yard (it's just waiting for collection into the bin for the green waste removal)
it may seem unattainable but I do have Steven to help......

Leshanah tovah tikateiv veteichateim

Let me say this again: Leshanah tovah tikateiv veteichateim.
Translation; "May you be inscribed and sealed for a good year."
It's Rosh Hashanah, The Jewish New Year, a time of going forward, shedding the old and embracing the new. I love it.

I'm having a couple of quiet days after a wild and great time at Jennifer Knits. This shop is always humming with everyone doing amazing knitting. My friend Claudia came and chatted (we were in Cat Bordhi's sock class together in Jan. ) and we are hoping to get together this weekend.
As well as my Trunk Show it was First Tuesday at Brentwood Village and all the fancy Lunch Trucks were there. I had heard about this one on NPR radio while driving the girls to Crater Lake this summer, how wonderful to get to have dinner and to know these talented people...

It's Farmer's Market this afternoon and I will take my bags and go and get lovely fruit and veg.s and some more Artichoke Hummus ummm....

And Make Yarn.

I'm a little behind the production schedule but what I am making is for a secret project for Loops in Tulsa OK. Wow you lucky knitters in Tulsa are going to be having a great time at the reveal of the Loops wall, wish I could be there.... But will see everyone in January!!

I just wanted to show my Shoulder Candy and the buttons Jan made for me. I'm looking forward to wearing this Shoulder Candy in "Ice" during my stay in CT and NY.

I've got to get back to work but I just wanted to touch base with everyone. I'm out in the garden listening to the Hummingbirds and the bees attending all the roses still in bloom. Today is a day of rest and reflection take time for yourself today and do a good hour of quiet thought, you'll be so glad you did!

working working fun working

Getting all the pictures downloaded has taken time, not the time it takes to actually download them, but the time it takes to sit with the computer and actually do it. I've had a lovely day off today which has been a rare treat and feel like I can visit with the blog, it's a day off after all!

Here is the most excellent packing job! Manatiu and I did of packing up Tanglewood Fiber Creations everything dye studio, singles, yarn, spinning wheels, bobbins, dishes, and a mattress....
Nothing moved, nothing flapped and nothing was lost or broken!
A rare moment on the journey. Cleo and Lily lounging on their carry bags in the back of the car
Yes we parked it here!
Then we went to Petaluma, CA. where we had the best "fussion" style India/Mexican food it was so yummy
We stayed with Pat, Bill and John and were treated to Finnish Pancake and fruit, PEACHES!

Here we are at Knitterly and side by side "Sterling Silver" projects sadly both are no more. We both were unhappy with the results. It isn't the yarn just the projects.
Beth and I made it to Southern California and of course went to Disneyland! Also, Steven was there.
Here is Steven on the right and Eric (Steven's cousin) on the left both are the image of their fathers......
Eric joined our merry band and we went to all the old favorites.

Working working working, most of this yarn was plied by Becky but there is a box of yarn that I have done waiting to be skeined and a whole bunch that sold at the Trunk Show at Knit Culture Studio in West Los Angeles
So today was my day off and a meeting of the "Friends of Blair Club" here we are having tea in San Juan Capistrano

Our happy group left to right Liz, Blair, Me, Kathy and Cathy

Last weekend was spinning fun at Knit Culture Studio's (Knitters Studio as was)

This is her first project ever! Crocheted (not with Tanglewood yarn but never the less great work)
Meanwhile Emma, Don, Mark and Abel have been touring the Pacific Northwest and got as far as Idaho! This evening I got a call from Don and they are again at our home in St. Helens. Even though this is a picture from this summer I imagine that this will be a scene renacted this week, Don and Mark talking...

ok the gloves, I plan on attending a Wednesday night knit night to finish these babies
Monday will be a labor day here at Tanglewood Fiber Creations South. I have some new help coming and we will be skeining all of the over 50 skeins that are dry and ready. We still have another several hundred waiting to be made....
