Trouble in Paradise

I've been trying to post the same pictures now for 10 days. It's not that I don't love you, blogger seems to be having trouble with my pictures. I've been trying and have super pictures to show you. I've even tried just going with what I already downloaded, but everything shuts down dramatically so I've decided to just write as I know you don't think I love you anymore.

I had a super time in Manhattan with Rick and Cynthia (Knitting Central) and my memories will be the forever kind. I can't thank them enough for a once in a life time trip.

Then another wonderful Trunk Show at Sticks and Strings. So many projects have been made with Tanglewood Yarn! I got to visit with Sharon and Howie my hosts from last year, and really got to know Tina and Cathy both whom made me laugh. Debbie who tells it straight! Over the two weeks during my visit in the east, leaves started changing and it eased my homesickness for Oregon, along with lenghty conversations with Don, Emma and Mark about apple pressing and more rodent evictions.

Back to Los Angeles and another Trunk Show at Knit Culture (Studio's) and more wonderful friends dropped by and visited. I have pictures...

Then trouble, I came home to the Plague House. Mike isn't sick often, and in the 33 years I have known him, I can count on one hand the sick days he has had. Everyone in Los Angeles and several loved ones in Oregon have this plague.
I went to the Doctor on Monday and when I asked him what it was he said he didn't know but A) it wasn't good B) did it matter?, after all sick is sick and C) everyone has had, is having, or is going to get it. I love Dr. McKinley, so off I went and got my drugs and went right to bed. Sleeping festooned with cats is lovely. They were so happy to have me in one place and quiet, every time I stirred both Cleo and Lily purred me back to sleep. Tuesday saw a new day dawn (and a really good rain along with thunder and lighting show pretty rare for Los Angeles) and by the evening I was well enough to go out to dinner, dressed. Dr. McKinley gives me good drugs!

All week I stayed home much to Mike's (along with Cleo and Lily) joy. I was attached to a spinning wheel, but I think he was happy that I was home and "resting". Although he did mention "sweat shop" once as another shipment of fiber was delivered and currently there is over 40 pounds of cashmere, 10 pounds of Cashmere/Silk and other fibers here and there sitting in boxes along with a lot of yarn drying or waiting to be skeined. Our house is looking like a sweat shop, and with fevers breaking here and there it was a sweat shop. I can't believe how much yarn we've managed to make in a week.

I fly into NY again on Wednesday and get whisked off to Hartford for Stitches East next weekend, but this weekend is for friends. Tomorrow is a meeting of "The Friends of Blair's Club" a most important meeting as it is Blair's Birthday celebration. We are going to High Tea at Huntington Gardens (I wish Mom was going) and we all are very excited about it. I still have gifts to wrap.

Sunday a dear friend is getting married. This is an especially special wedding as she has waited a long time for Mr. Right. I know she feels very lucky to find this wonderful guy and I'm so flattered and happy to be able to attend. I bought a very special outfit to wear along with shoes and purse and everything. I'm going to get my toes done up even though no one will see them.

Monday is the final work day and then Tuesday is Steven's birthday. I'm so proud and honored to have him in my life. He is a truly wonderful person.

Wednesday I fly back to LaGuardia Airport and I can only hope that I will get to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island from the air again. Neither Cynthia or I have ever been to either place so both of us have it on our "bucket" list.

November 1st I'll be back in Los Angeles then off to Knitterly ( I love Petaluma) the following weekend and then up to Portland and the next day Hawaii. Becky is taking me for her birthday! One long week in Maui then back to Portland for Thanksgiving with the family at Becky's house.

Hopefully me and Blogger will sort out our problems and I'll be able to post pictures. I miss you very much. Cleo says it's time for bed and I think she is right. I hope to post pictures soon.

OK things are working well with the computer and blogger! Yeah

My oh my Souffle with Cynthia and Lisa
Lisa has a Maine Coon Cat that is older than Lily but is the same color.... Look how big she is!
Ahhh after an exciting time in the "City" Rick drove us back to Westport and we had this....ummmmm
My dear friends together at Cynthia's house the very talented Lynn Wilson and Cynthia
While I was in the City (these pictures are really jumbled up) Cynthia had a couple of spinning lessons....She did great!

While she was spinning, "Trish" my sheep that lives in Jan's house sent a picture of herself!
These are Pinky and Smoky the rams at Jan's house
Cynthia and Rick walking back to their flat and walking NYC style really fast!

While in the city we went to see Echart Tollie in Riverside Church which was beautiful and reminded me of the churches in England
My last day in the city Cynthia took me to "The Park" and we walked around the reservior
Gotham! Look at the weather, it was so beautiful and we had a great walk
This is a project in Multnomah Falls Cashmere/Silk that Laura E. has designed. If you love this pattern call Westport Yarns for the pattern!
here is a Museum that is around the corner from Cynthia's house!

A coffee shop

Wanted to show the lovely tree lined streets, and even though this is "The City" it still seemed rural
Another view of Gotham during our walk

On Friday it was a short journey to Sticks and Strings in Scarsdale NY look at how nice the yarn looks

Here am I spinning!

This is Tina who is beautiful wearing "her" skein of Erica's Sunstone in Cashmere/Silk. Wish this wasn't blurry
This customer had contacted me inquiring what kind of yarn I was bringing to Sticks and Strings. I asked her what kind of yarn she would like, Cashmere or Cashmere and Silk. I was hoping for a little more direction, like a color-way and how many yard she might like. When she came she found the perfect three skeins. All "One of a Kind" cashmere! Look how happy she is!!!! I love that plan
Umm dinner my favorite Artichoke
Finally got these posted!!! Thanks for waiting. I know it was long. Now that Blogger and I have come to an understanding I will post more. Glad to be back!

Traveling Day

I'm back in Westport CT this evening and it is late so I'm making it short. Tomorrow I will arrive for this weekends trunk show at Sticks and Strings in Scarsdale NY. I'm looking forward to very much as I'm feeling a little guilty about having so much fun when there is so much to do.

I walked the entire reservoir in Central Park today. It was a great stroll but I was in Fancy Lady Shoes and now have a very large blister on the bottom of the left foot. However after going to see Eckhart Tolle last night it isn't very "Power of Now". I'm not complaining just explaining. I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Lunch at Barney's was a kick and looking at fancy lady clothes and shoes was a fun, again spent millions in Window Shopping Dollars-I love those things you are never overdrawn in that account.

I notice that my computer only has 19% power..... a sign that I have to go to bed. I've had a wonderful day and that doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon!!! I miss my Lily and Cleo and of course my Mike and Steven. Not to forget Becky, Jan,Beth and well you get the idea..... now down to 17% Love to you Trish

Fancy Town

I'm writing a quick note to you while I have one NY minute. Cynthia, my hostess, is at exercise while I have a leisurely breakfast and shower before we go out again to more fun that is humanly possible.
I went to the Mecca of Fancy Ladies yesterday Bergdorff's and shopped (spent a million window shopping dollars) then had a light lunch. We went to a giant Apple Store and I lusted after the iPad, but resisted as I have a lot of Cashmere to buy.

Today we are heading to a museum and light lunch then a lecture about "The Power of Now".

Tomorrow is a travel day and I'm heading back to Westport for the night and then my good friend Lynn is going to take me to Sticks and Strings in Scarsdale.

All to soon this magical two weeks will end but I'm really soaking up every moment and at some point you can "put your penny in" (Mother use to say this "She put the penny in and the stories came out," great now I'm an arcade game) and I will be telling stories of this magical trip. Everyone at Westport Yarns has been in touch. Lynn said her sides hurt for a good day after our party on Saturday night!

I've been overwhelmed by the good cheer and interest in who I am and what I do. Not as a creature under a rock interest but something so interesting that they can't find the magnifying glass fast enough!

I'll be back in Los Angeles on the 12th and heading to Knit Culture on Oct. 15th but if you are around Scarsdale NY head to Sticks and Strings and come see me! TTFN Fancy Lady wanna be Trish

The Fun at Westport Yarn

Here I am at Westport Yarns in Westport CT!
My host Beth (proud owner ) hosted me at her house. Where I got a peak in her bedroom and look at what was on her cosy corner in her room.....
This is Sophia.... I hated to break the news Sophia is a boy Cockatiel...
Pam is fixing a knitting problem for a customer... look at the dedication and commitment in her face. All the staff at Westport Yarns are so helpful and knowledgeable
I went accross the street for Lunch at a little market called Fresh and loookie what I found.....

Yumm the newest and softest yarn Tanglewood makes Edelweiss
Look almost finished a Lovely scarf in Cashmere/Silk in the Multnomah Falls color-way

As Pam was sorting another knitter out I completed one of Mike's gloves!!!! Happy days!!! I won't weave the ends in until he has his final fitting.
There is a problem in the bathroom at Westport Yarns. As with every older building it has some funky quirky things. There are two light switch boxes in the bathroom. One is for the bathroom light and the other is for the store lights. Even though both are clearly marked I get them wrong. While I'm standing in darkness in the bathroom turning light switches I'm also plunging the shop into darkness. At which point everyone yells WRONG ONE....... So this visit I had a good idea.
I knit a light switch cozy using a small bit of Yak/Merino
and added velcro for the cozy to adhere and cover the WRONG light switches. Further I suggested glow in the dark tape be applied to the RIGHT light switch for easier viewing. Problem solved (and by the way I'm not the only one that has had this problem)

The next day we had a power meeting at a delightful place and talked about our booth at Stitches East, and they offered for dessert, Frozen Greek Yogurt with local honey and PEACHES ummmm
The salad that we shared with fresh and pickled spiced apples again yummy
Getting ready for the Friday night reveal of Tanglewood Fiber Creations!

My Shoulder Candy that took me all summer long to knit. It's only about 7-8 ounces but has over 500 yards. This cowl features a shawl pin (Lantern Moon) I bought while on our trip this summer in Eureka California. I love Dragonflies and I think it's perfect for this Shoulder Candy in Super-Wash Merino
I did a little talk about our product and some little tricks about using hand-spun and why it's so expensive and then Beth and Fred took me for another delightful meal
On Saturday came many repeat customers here is a flap hat made using Erica's Sunstone in Super-wash Merino
Joanne here made three garments using Tanglewood Fiber Creations yarn and wore them to show me. Joanne is modeling a shrug designed by Cynthia of Knitting Central and knit by Joanne using 75% Cashmere/25% Silk beaded "Fudge Icing"

This is a Neck Candy scarf made using Northwest Winter in Cashmere

I don't have to tell you about my love for food! Beth's dinner (Westport Yarns owner) ummm yummy. We needed food after a long day and evening of fun!
I'm not sure who made this but I know it is Newport Rocks (fiber unknown but doesn't it look cozy?) and it is in the new book CowlGirls by Cathy Carron!
On Saturday Beth threw (blush- in my honor however the honor is all mine) a party for everyone that is a part of Westport Yarns and had wonderfully Kako (spelling here sorry if it's wrong) these had to be my favorite, Crustini's topped with Figs, Prochutto and basil and several other tasty things.
Pam asked for milk to have with her Chocolate Flourless Torte, but Beth thought she meant for her coffee, not to offend her hostess she drank it.

This Tanglewood enthusiast made two projects this year out of Tanglewood one is the lovely neck warmer, the other is the Shoulder Candy using Katie's Painted Hills made from Merino/Angora/Cashmere

You know how I hate Good-byes. I had such a stupendous trip to Westport Yarns and Beth's (owner of Westport Yarns) has the most comfortable bed that I hated to leave this morning, and she said (although it was with a large yawn as having a wild and exciting house guest is exhausting) that she would miss me too....

Chloe sporting a cowl she designed using-what else Tanglewood yarn, this is Columbia Gorge-ous in Merino/Angora/Cashmere
This is a wonderful Cowl that Cynthia (Knitting Central) designed using Edelweiss. I love it and if you are interested just head to her web-site and ask for a pattern
I'm yawning now as it is very late. I had a wonderful trip and first day here in Manhattan. Tomorrow is packed with fun. I'm signing off now and look forward to visiting with you again soon. Happy Knitting
