Henley's II is Here!

Emma and Don welcomed the newest Turrentine to the world last night. I sat in Los Angeles thinking loving good thoughts, sitting vigil (I lit a Mediterranean Fig candle) knitting, sending my prayers for a lovely, speedy delivery while Emma did the hardest job a woman can do. Although waiting a thousand miles away praying was kinda hard but totally not as hard as having a baby naturally....

I got to say Hi to the new baby (OK I love cell phones, how great was it I could say hi to a newly born person).

I'm sitting at Burbank Airport waiting to go, all very exciting changing my flight and finding a seat on any plane going North.

I'm so happy and thrilled that Emma is safe and sound and delivered Henley II at home.

I have no idea of Henley II's post natal name.

I've got knitted goods and some presents for both Henley II and Mark who was thrilled too with his new brother.

Thanks for all those that sat vigil with me. I felt Mom was with me as well, pulling strings for Emma from up above.

I'm beyond happy.

Where's Trish?

It's taken over an hour to post all these photo's, it took three weeks to live it! In that time I've slept in three states, flown 1000 miles, driven almost that. I've had a great time and am staying well. Things are good here. I find my clothes slipping off me, sleeping not enough and eating well eating is good!
Emma is having a boy and while we are so glad that all are healthy and fine so far, not knitting items that are pink or purple is a little disappointing, but only just a little. Blue and Red are good too!

Mike is happy because I'm here in Los Angeles and we (Audrey and I) had all our tax information prepared.

Steven is working hard.

Becky is cat sitting and reports that several of the boxes in the garage have joined all the boxes that were in the house in the recycling bin, which has overflowed the last three trash days.

I've been playing Words with Friends (an app for the IPhone that is Scrabble) and everywhere I look for good words using w, j, z and y. If you have this app and want to play let me know. Gina H and Ellen from Loops are the only people I know that I'm playing with. MrHombe is a Scrabble shark.....

So now the photo's

Cleo isn't ready to get up on this day neither was I....more unpacking at Becky's house and then repacking to go to Camp Burton, then back to Becky's new house to unpack some more then repack to go to St. Helens for a few days, then pack for my trip to Los Angeles... a lot of packing....

Jan and Becky's new chicks that are living in Becky's new kitchen

The new skeiner, which came defective :(

All the yarn that didn't get skeined because of the defective skeiner, all waiting to go to Jennifer Knits for a Trunk Show

Nathan (Mr. Woolie Winder fame) and Becky looking at the skeiner and the slightly broken Roberta E-Spinner. Nathan took all the E-Spinners to rehab them, but first we had dinner

and Becky made...Apple Dessert!

Jan and Neil went to a Wine Silent Auction...they went slightly crazy and bought this huge bottle of wine, she put a regular size so you could see that the "Huge" bottle is 6.5x larger than most.... I want to go to that party!

Then on Monday March 22 I flew down to Los Angeles and started skeining skeins. Steven and I worked into the night and then early in the morning to get most of the yarn ready for the Trunk Show at Jennifer Knits in Brentwood California!
This great knitter is going to knit a sweater with all of this yarn (and more) Armfuls of yarn went to a new homes... It was so short and fast that all of us were a little winded at closing. I'm going back soon so watch for the details

A day of rest. I did a little skeining and a little cleaning and unpacking.... more unpacking then I headed out to the garden for some R&R working on my scarf and enjoying the garden that Mike has been taking such good care of.

If you stop by Knitterly you'll see this new pelt that is cuddling the couch. It's from Jan's flock and now we are all connected...

Wow all caught up. I picked Lemons off the Pink Lemon tree, we figure there is about 50 pounds of lemons. I'm not sure what to do with all the lemons, but I'll think about that tomorrow! Happy Knitting

Tanglewood Fiber Creations

I'm in Saint Helens tonight and a lot of neat things have been happening. I think I managed to work out my XM radio challenges. Hay nice XM young person!
I've been and come back to Camp Burton. I've helped Becky unload lots of boxes. I've arranged a dye day and I'm going to be plying yarn. Ms. Audrey and I worked on the mountain of paperwork for tax day which is next week. I've got a huge (Marks newest word) amount of pictures to download on a day I'm not pressed for time. Like at the airport next Monday.

Cleo is down at Beckys while I'm working.

It's Mikes birthday today but we are going to celebrate next week when I'm down
in LA.

Steven is working out a life plan please send good thoughts his way.

Beth has been and gone along with Shadow.

Emma is due anyday now but I don't think it will be tomorrow as much as she would like it to be.

Alexandra is all unpacked and working with my friend Nathan (maker of the Woolie Winder) and lots if excitement is happening there.

All the daffodills are up along with other bulbs and it is looking like spring here. This weekend in Oregon it is forcast to be very warm and sunny and everyone here is looking forward too.

Camp Burton Eve

It is a cold and dark night here in Silverton Oregon. It has snowed at slightly higher elevations and the warm afternoon on Saturday has disappeared.

While it hasn't snowed here at Becky's old house it is certainly cold really cold. Last night having spent the evening having dinner with Alexandra I got home to a cold dark house. I have trouble with keys, turning things is hard for me. Last night shivering in the dark with at least 35 keys (Becky's keys to the old house, my keys to the house in California, a whole bunch to the new house, the new house new keys belonging to the locks yet installed and the keys to the Saint Helens house really at least 35 keys on three key rings all conjoined) trying to find the one that works. Fussing in the dark, shivering with the cold, looking forward to a nice warm bed with flannel night gowns. I tried about 6 keys before the door finally opened. I went to bang on the heater- nothing happened. I went down in the scary basement to wash clothes for the weekend. When still nothing had happened with the heater. It just sat there looming with spider webs hanging from all the wires and ducting in the dreary basement.
I checked for gas, nothing, I checked the breaker box (electrical) all breakers on (which hadn't been the case the night before when all the kitchen outlets and light didn't work) ummm it got colder (well I was standing in the basement at midnight)

Up the stairs and Cleo is cuddled into the pillow waiting for me to come and keep warm. I took lots of blankets and made a plying nest but it was still pretty cold.

The morning dawned cloudy and even colder. The sky was just different colors of sooty grey, low grumbly clouds. I could see my breath Cleo had her fluffy tail firmly wrapped around her noise.
Back to the plying nest for another several bobbins of natural colored Cashmere. I soon felt the cold that had made it to the core of my being. No amount of tea would warm me. I quickly dressed after the distressing discovery that the dryer hadn't done it's job either.
All my clothes were slightly frozen. I felt then the day had taken a left turn to a place I didn't want to be. Back up the stairs warmed only slightly by the march up and down the stairs several more times.

Eventually I found myself in the car on my way to the knitting shop. I sat and warmed at the Purl District. I was loaned a shawl and given a cup of tea, things looked a lot better. Warm and soothed I was braised to go to Becky's new house and unload the Microwave that is the car. The fence was just about finished, the house was warm, the kitchen was bright and cheery and still had a little lamb roast smell from the night before.
I'm packing up and moving out heading for a warm and cozy night at the new house.

Tomorrow my friends and I will be on our way to Vashon Island in Washington! Visiting with friends and sleeping and eating, no boxes, no cooking, no cleaning just spinning fun.

Hope your weekend is going to be great. Stay warm!!! Hey how about some cashmere yarn- Got Tanglewood?

The March Adventure

I'm at Becky's old house today but this is a week's worth of pictures to catch you up

Here is a mostly consumed dessert, totally not on the NO plan; Fried Chocolate Wontons with Vanilla Ice Cream ummmmmm I had this with Shelli at Knitterly, we didn't eat the whole thing but I wanted to!

A shoulder candy made by Becky from a test batch of Baby Alpaca/Cashmere, all agreed that this blend wasn't soft enough to put into production but Becky made a nice project and it kept me so warm last night as I wore it to bed.... it was knit with love and therefore even more special

This is the way Cleo travels, we are on our way from Petaluma Ca. to Silverton Or. it took exactly 12 hours

I took this picture while driving (carefully) but I wanted to show you the rows and rows of Almonds that were blooming all along the drive. It was breath taking

I can't find Mark's Birthday socks I knit but I did find these great boots and I think he liked them, Emma and Don weren't thrilled (whoa whoa whoa) but they both agreed at least now he might wear boots!

Emma and Granada Gazelle due soon

Mark on his maiden voyage with the new boots, they are a little big and a little stiff he wasn't totally sure of himself

Sushi with Beth in Saint Helens, it was fun getting together just two friends. I worked my tail off dyeing, plying and looking around at the house.

I forgot how quiet it was there. Even here at Becky's house in the city is pretty quiet compared to Lakewood Ca. but up there whoa whoa whoa quiet. Here are some early bulbs peeking through the soil. I planted these last fall and it's like a little surprise when they start poking their heads up

"A Good Year for Plums" (a book by Bailey White) but it looks really good to have our Wild Plum tree fruit this year, you can't hear it but there are so many bee's tending to pollination! A great sign that we will have fruit this year again! Mike reports that the Aprium tree is full of little fruit sets and I can hardly wait to take that picture when I fly back to Lakewood in two weeks

Here is a "project truck" yeah it's ugly.

Jan and I have been working a lot at Becky's new house. We started in the kitchen as that was the room that was the only one she hadn't touched and didn't have the money/time to do much to before moving in. As Becky cooks a lot (for Jan and I and visa versa) we thought the kitchen was where we'd be the most helpful.
Jan cleaned and lined the shelves, I cleaned the walls and some of the cabinet fronts, I made a trip to the local hardware store to buy cleaning agents, scrubbing brushes and paint samples, Jan then removed the old wall paper because it was really bugging her, and then we painted samples of the new colors we thought Becky might like, she didn't and she then went to get more paint.
Poor Becky had to go out of town for business this week and left on Sunday. I took her to the airport and then went out to brunch with Jan and Neil, then onto looking at a new toy for Jan? Look at Neils face! LOL it's a project car and still not sure if it's going to happen

After brunch and looking at odd cars, Jan and I went to a large hardware store in Salem to order the new fence material and paint and a new over the stove microwave with a exhaust fan (after scrubbing the walls we decided that some sort of fan was in order) Jan bought the approved paint and blinds poor Neil installed. I now know way more about fences than I ever wanted to. Monday Alexandra started painting while I talked to yarn shops and wound roving into balls for dyeing and dyed fiber for spinning.
Here are some of the pictures of the new Yellow paint color in the kitchen

At some point (things are starting to run together) I was in the Ladies Room and on the door was this good advice;

Neil spent a lot of time installing blinds. It didn't go well and there was a lot of changing things around. However this is a new blind that is installed and looks good!

Today I'm going to the new house to watch while the fencing material delivered and starting to be used. I'm also going to buy new locks for every door in Becky's house and have them all keyed the same. I'm going to continue winding roving and unpacking boxes. I'm chilling a little as I'm flagging and both Jan and I are looking forward to some time off. I'm going to make dinner tonight for Alexandra and her roommate Pat. I'm hoping to get together with Emma too. Next week it's more dyeing and fibery things! If you feel like doing a little packing/unpacking let me know!
This weekend is the final big move, Jan and I will be at Camp Burton Spinning Retreat! I've arranged for a lot of people to come and help out so we aren't feeling like we are leaving Becky in the lurch (but we are really glad we don't have to worry about moving any more things) and will be doing some unpacking after our retreat. In two weeks I'll be doing a trunk show at Jennifer Knits in Brentwood California. Lots of Textured Cashmere will be there! So if you want good yarn come see me....meanwhile look for me haunting lumber yards and hardware stores!
