Cleo and I are hanging at the house alone except when Diane and Courtney comes to work, it's quiet after having Mike there and after all the "excitement" of the last few months, but welcome.
I'm going to spend the weekend at Becky's house this weekend so I don't become feral, and hopefully catch up with Emma and Jan (I need to hear and smell sheep I NEED IT)

Meanwhile March passes into April and tomorrow I have my Mammogram and another visit with Pat (a gentleman that shares his birthday with Mike; March 17th) my PT trainer

So now onto the pictures!

Sarah sent me this picture of the four of us at Camp Burton, Heidi left, ME center of course, Sarah on left and BONNIE down center.

Now back to almost present time, the view of the Blue Mountains from Beth's house, breathtaking and cooold

However we found big fun, Beth let me groom Layla, and Layla let me groom her for about a minute, then suggested I do Super (the other horse in the field)

Layla

While we were brushing horses the cloud formation changed to this!

Layla loved Mike, here is a rare picture of Mike in jeans, yes even Mike can be cold

After the grooming then it's cleaning the pasture of the days leavings

Mike having a quiet moment

the next day it was warm! We went to a lovely place called the Kirkman house. Gary was able to join us and reluctantly was involved in a blog picture

It is a lovely little place and Greer showed us around and answered most of my questions, which are always many, much to the chagrin of my family. There are several interesting textiles from the late 1800's and early 1900's displayed and they are working really hard to get the house in good order. It was interesting taking our husbands there, both are avid DIY'ers and kept noticing what a huge job they have ahead of them to keep this place going....

Greer started talking about the Weaving and Spinning that goes on at this location, she got my attention fast and let us into the Cottage

Here's the loom and notice above the natural dyed hand-spun?

There is some wicked good weaver somewhere in Walla Walla WA. This isn't hand-spun (at least I don't think so) but this isn't a beginners piece by a long shot

Notice the spinning wheels at left bottom

The spinners and weavers here have planted a Natural Dye garden it's early spring here so there isn't much but wait a month....

Mike's big project this trip was taking care of me, but he did manage to improve the drying rack and here it is with doors, behind the doors there is 4 pounds of Cashmere/Silk in Erica's Sunstone.

Glad to be back, look forward to a week of not having to be in bed. April comes in 3 mins. time to get out of Safeway and into bed I've got to be up early tomorrow!

I Did? I don't remember or Dry Socket

It has been a hard month as the one month anniversary of Mom's death has come and gone. I'm not so weepy as I was and things are getting better every day. I have lived a half live on pain pills as my extraction became a dry socket, which is extreme pain that I could have done without. One full week in bed, then another still popping the pills for a whole other week, then yesterday was my first day without a pain pill.
I've made beaded yarn and have been sort of in the office. Mike leaves on Sunday and we are enjoying a lovely holiday with Beth and Gary in Walla Walla WA. lots of pictures when I'm not on Beth's computer. These are pictures I down loaded last week, one day Mike said I had to get out of the house.

Bags packed in one and a half hours, and had four weeks of work in them.. most of the yarn is made, set, labeled and on it's way to shops near you....

One of the two places that Mom's Memorial Bench will go at the South Coast Botanical Gardens, both within smelling distance of the Rose Garden

I want this, it's too early for my Wisteria to be even thinking along these lines but isn't this idyllic?

Val had these beautiful Roses at Mom's Memorial now we all get to enjoy them

Time passes and we are now at Camp Burton Spinning Retreat at Vashon Island WA.
Ms. Audrey spinning next to me

Sarah Anderson and her sister Heidi from Minnesota

Nicole in the Left Jane in the middle (remember her hand spun hand knit shawl that she shared with Yarn Harlot at the book signing in Portland?) and Barbara, all spinning friends

LUNCH!

The view out the window of the dinning hall

Soup, I don't really like soup but "Hello"! At this point I still had a broken tooth so it was a blessing, and really good, even though- yuck soup, and after the whole dry socket and bruised mouth (so bad was the bruising from the first of many caps that Mike kept telling strangers it wasn't him it was the dentist)

I want to tell you there was no Glen of any kind at this retreat, it is a dry camp, so all of this fun is ala natural...Mike suggests it's fumes from the cashmere.......

This is Lisa doing "Crow" a Ti Chi maneuver

Here is Terry with one of the batts she made at Judith's class that caused so much controversy about sending staples through the carder sideways, if you don't understand any of the last line don't worry it's spinners talk....

Since Lisa did Crow here is Cindi also doing "Crow" notice none of me doing Crow!

Ms. Audrey spun and plied all of this yarn during the weekend, yeah Ms. Audrey! However none of it is going to be TFC yarn, this is for a top Audrey will crochet.....

The Rockin' Cabin #3 Where Ms. Audrey, Me, Sarah, Heidi and Bonnie Rose spent several pleasant nights

My bunk

Back home and on the way to the dentist's office bright and early Monday morning, after having returned from Camp Burton then drove down to Silverton Or. to drop my car off for Becky's use and then home to St. Helens. This view was the last thing I remember seeing for about a full week. There are flashes of memory of Physical Therapy, more dentists and a Doctors visit, but all very hazy and disjointed. It snowed while we were at Camp Burton and while we were here in Walla Walla, winter isn't done with us yet no matter what the calender says....

Lovely Northwest Autumn yarn

Here is some fiber drying in the bathroom, as the drying rack needed some modifications Northwest Summer in Cashmere and Silk, that I've all ready spun and will bead

I'm better but it's been really hard. I have lots of dental work ahead of me as all of my teeth have to have crowns before they break and need to be removed (never again). I am enjoying physical therapy and looking forward to my hip (an old motorcycle injury) not hurting any more. Lots of beading to be done next week along with some spinning. If you are looking for beaded cashmere/silk or beaded camel/silk call Yarns Unlimited as they will be getting a shipment soon.

In the mean time

I've had several unpleasant things happen, basically due to stress my teeth are splitting for no reason. What is there too much stress in my life? Yes, so I have major dental work these next two weeks.
I'm back in St. Helens after a very fun trip to Camp Burton. I've meet new best friends and visited with good old friends, bathed in love and support which was much needed after a stressful drive back to Saint Helens.
I'm going back to the dentist today and tomorrow, the oral surgeon some time this week and in May more dentistry.

But there is a huge amount of yarn in the production room, and more drying in the bathroom, and more to be set in the car. I've been spinning so this week I'll be doing beaded as well as cleaning and reorganizing the office.
I have lovely pictures but can't find my camera or the stick to put them onto the computer, so off home to get work done

Meanwhile think about this.....

Driving

I'm leaving in a few minutes to return to St. Helens OR. Cleo and I are driving in the Element and Mike is following in his little car.

Yesterday Becky and I along with my Brother and Sister in Law went through all of Mom and Dad's old photo's and such. Dividing all their live between everyone was hard and without Brother John, is almost impossible, so we got as much as we could separated and when John and his family come for a visit this summer, another "go through" will be in the works.

Work, I haven't done any spinning or plying but have packed all and look forward to my Camp Burton retreat this coming weekend. Mike is so glad that I have decompression time planed, I feel a little guilty but the need for this time with friends far away from grief is so needed.

I'm going home! Mike and Cleo are going to be there too. ALL ABOARD to FIBER LAND!

I'm coming back to normal

Tomorrow is the service and I have downloaded some pictures for that event and found that I hadn't cleared my camera for a while, so here is some interesting pictures
A whole bobbin spun for beaded Multnomah Falls in Cashmere/silk, this is now beaded plied and on it's way to a yarn shop, but only Diane knows which one!

My bags waiting for the plane to California, these bags where packed in 1 hour, enough plying work for three weeks, beads and 16 balls of Newport Rocks in Cashmere/Silk for spinning. Along with some clothes and computer

Becky's new kitchen with the hanging star lights that we were installing! When I return I'll take a picture of them installed

The hotel is really all about glass, because of it's location near the Tacoma Glass Museum. These are the sinks in the bathrooms

This is the view from the Hotel Murano, Madrona Fiber Arts Winter Retreat while I was having lunch, breath taking mountains

I'll post more, right now I have to pick Becky up from the Anaheim Convention Center and then get ready for tomorrow.

Memorial Service and going home

Sunday is the Memorial Service for Mom. I'll get some of her ashes and have a couple of ideas about what to do with them. Becky flew down from Oregon last night and is working for her "real" job today and tomorrow. The Sunday and Monday spending time with us.

I'm planning to head home (Oregon) on Tuesday and hurry up drive to get home quick as things need to get done before I go to Camp Burton, a spinning retreat where I will spin yarn for beading.

Dad, my brother Pete and I went to scout out locations for Mom's special bench at the South Coast Botanical Gardens, as soon as they let us know which location has been selected I'll show you the picture.

I was dressed yesterday and today! It has been a long haul with grief, but each day get's better and when I get home there won't be as much to remind me that she is gone. Mataniu took all the things we could part with today, so basicly that job is done, and it's nice to have a few special things to foddle, don't worry I don't have enough for a shrine, as some people were concerned that I was going to hoard everything.

Cleo and Ozzie have been the source of great joy and give light to my heart.

I have great freinds and family and everyone has been so supportive, and even if I haven't called (e-mailed) you back your messages and calls mean a lot.

I spent a lot of time working these past week, lots of beaded yarn has been made. Look for it in your local shop soon.

Off to spend time with the family, keep the good thoughts coming and if you are coming on Sunday thanks.....
