How Hot?
Yesterday it was103 here today it was 110 tomorrow it's suppose to be hotter. Steven and I drove 60miles to purchase the only air conditioner in a 200 mile radius of our house. It was like feeding time at the shark tank. I sat on the one we got while Steven went to get a cart.
Now the bad news it has to be installed. I had a melt down and Steven drove me to a movie theater and then to dinner.
We are home now, it's 87 downstairs, upstairs it's hard to breathe. I've stolen the fans from the drying rack and am heading to the shower with the nightie on, and as I told Ms. Audrey today I will remind her in February about spinning in the front room today.
It was hotter today than in Huston Tx. Tulsa Ok and Los Angeles. Hotter than when we cleaned out my MIL's house in Tucson two years ago.
Remind me when I'm complaining about how cold it is this coming winter.
Tomorrow we install the air conditioner at first light. Wish us luck. Stay cool!

Dog Days of Summer
It was hot yesterday it's going to be hot today and hotter tomorrow.
David is here working on the secret garden. I'm up early to try and do some weeding in the garden, Courtney and Heidi are coming early to cut Lavender.
My lilies have all bloomed and smell heavenly making the whole house fragrant with their pungant perfume. My vegetable garden has suffered in my absence, the lack of water has stunant their growth. Meanwhile Becky's garden has started producing big. We had dinner at Jan's house last night and feasted on her snap peas and cucumbers.
Sock Summit is almost here, I'm trying to stay calm and the amount of yarn waiting in the office has helped the stress level. I've been plying and spinning and pleased with my progress. My little spinning wheel has had a work out and those 5 bobbins have been filled, emptied and filled again just as the plying bobbins. Beaded yarn is drying in the drying rack and awaited reskiening and labels. The front room stays cool so retreating to spin in the hottest part of the day. Steven has had a restful few days and will resume computer work today.
I have a long list of jobs to do this week and another dentist's appointment but plan to make time to visit with Emma, Don and Mark. We are in the same state at the moment, and looking forward catching up, plus I'm feeling the need for a cuddle from Mark.
Well back to spinning cashmere. Kept it cool!

A Day with Friends
Steven and brother John went White Water Rafting yesterday. So I called my dear friends Sarah and Bonnie to see if we could get together! I finally got there and we had a rocking time. Bonnie is a Master Gardener and her husband is a Professional Gardener, so here are breathtaking pictures of the gardens.
We had an awesome lunch and all too soon it was time to head back to Seattle and another hotel room. This time we are staying at the Best Western, yesterday was the Watertown. If you have a choice go to the Watertown......
Sarah is teaching embellishing at SOAR these are some of the hats she "just whipped up" to do class prep

Bonnie and Henry at the computer, this is they way they work together

Bonnie's fan collection

Bonnie is going to e-mail me names of plants so check back later for it but I do know this is a plant that is named after Bonnie (Rose) and her husband is pattening it!

This is the parent plant to the new Bonnie Rose

Campanula (again I'm probably wrong it's hard to remember when your tongue is hanging out and drooling over the beauty of her garden)

This I can't forget it is a tea plant and Bonnie is showing us the part they pick for the tea. Just a few leaves off the top. Bonnie is a Tea Blender......a passion we both share as well as both of us had English Mothers, spooky thing is they died within a week of each other......

Lillies...

From here on in it gets a little fuzzy so I'll have to wait for the email
Poppys

More Lillies

Allium

Pentstamum (spelling?)

Love in the Mist

A seasonal pond in her back yard!

This Hydranga is from a cutting lifted from Camp Burton on Vashon Island

I made Sarah stand in front of this Hosta so that you can see how amazing it is... Bonnie and Sarah have made concrete leaves from this plant

Native Sword Ferns

I think this is the Golden Oak

How cool is this!

It's not what you think! I can't remember it's real name but it's not what Sarah is making it out to be......but hey we were being silly

Part of our luncheon was salad from these hanging baskets, the best way to grow lettuce in the Pacific Northwest no slugs on these plants

Lillies

Flowers were everywhere in delightful arrangements this one was on the back porch where we sat knitting socks

A gift from Bonnie, a special Lilly seatbelted in carefully ready for transport home

Meanwhile my poor friend Jan has just found out that thier county is trying to push the Urban boundry into her back yard. So if you would go to Keep Beavercreek Rural (http://keepbeavercreekrural.blogspot.com) and send encouraging thoughts to her. Also loving thoughts to my Nieces and their families that they are loved in their time of grief.
Steven now says he's tired of having fun (you have to get up too early) and wants to go home. So we are off See you soon!

Sleeping in Seattle
We had a great day yesterday touring Seattle (again) my brother, my son and I. We did a lot of walking and today Steven and John and John's long time friend Charlie are going white water rafting (can't see my computer geek child in a wet suit but he's game!?) so I'm going off to have lunch with my friend Bonnie Rose (Tea Time Garden fame) and sitting in her awesome garden. Meanwhile here are some pictures
Backing up to last Saturday was Becky's friend's Bills birthday. Bill is a single gentleman of a "certain age" so had a "big boy" birthday at Hooters. I knit while watching this incredible feat!

Now onto the normal part of the blog!
We went on the "Duck" tour in this amphibous vehicle

It's really silly and there are duck whistles involved Steven at the ready

Brother John (he looks less ready! didn't know at this point he is coming down with the crud)

We toured Seattle with all manor of silliness and then entered the water. This is another Duck tour coming out of the water

It was a gorgous day and these are some views of Lake Union

Sleepless in Seattle House boat

There were all these Sea Scouts bobbing around in boats. It looked really fun and I wish I could have been a sea scout! What a wonderful way to spend a summer.

Random art work on the side of the road

We were stopped by a draw bridge openning it was great!

We then took the Monorail to Pike's Market hiked around, went to lunch at SAM, then went to the Music/Science Fiction Musuem (became a member) then went back to the hotel where poor John crashed. I went to bed fairly early so as to get Steven off at 8:00 am (really early for Steven) and then had a peaceful morning with you. Now I'm off to Salumi, Hill Top Knitting and then to Bonnie's house. I'm leaving the internet so it may be a while until my next post.
PS I feel much better and have two new teeth and prep'd for three more!
