Arizona day 4

Today was really "interesting". We started out the day very sore and bone tired, even though it had rained through the night and cooled the day down the rain made it far more humid (no one mentioned the "dry heat"). We stumbled around and then decided to go visit MIL, we had a good visit. My Sister in Law and I then went to look for a new "placement" for MIL. We were using Becky's GPS to get around unfamiliar territory, however "Lee" (the voice name on the GPS) steered us very wrong. Roxanne (SIL) was driving and "Lee" took us down a rough dirt road, then the road turned into a dirt bike track, then it turned into nothing. Lee's voice announcing "turn right in .5 miles" in his Australian accent. We stopped when we came upon a deep gully. We sat in the car appraising the "situation" for a short while, another jack rabbit came out of the bush and then disappeared, we got out of car to have a better look, me; I think if we go fast we might make it-?? Roxy; are you kidding me there is no way, I jumped down into the gully and felt the really soft sand and then turned to look at Roxy, only to see her small silhouette framed by a large black rain storm another jagged flash of lightening illuminating her worried face, me; yes, your right we better turn around. Roxanne chose wisely. We turned around and got firmly stuck. Sitting there in the car watching the huge rain storm (with more dramatic lighting flashing across the darkening sky) coming our way, the sun setting, a sinking feeling in both our stomachs, me; do you have AAA? Her look said it all.........
You know when it is so bad that you have to hysterically laugh? We both lost it. Time passes, Luckily we were rescued by the hero's Nephew Glen and Niece Stephanie, following our somewhat shaky directions; like come towards the big cloud; then turn right at the huge sand bump in the road then; cross the large mud-hole, yes that's right pass the no dumping sign, yes can you believe that cardboard shack is someone's home, sort of thing. With those landmarks to guide them and flashing our lights and honking the horn......
This is how they found us...

Here is the whole after they pulled us out

Here is the how deep whole was

PS the kitten went to the vet yesterday! His cast was "adhered to the surgical site" and The Kid didn't enjoy the removal!!! Becky says that teeth and claws were involved. However when the pain was over, site cleaned and checked all was well but stitches weren't ready to be removed, (I'm sure the vet wasn't up for more bites), so a new cast was placed. The kid took a long nap while Becky plied a lot of Calypso Cove for Mel in Auckland New Zealand.
